It I appears to be well designed and worked fine after charging the included 18 volt battery. Although product specs do not mention it, the package includes a charger for the battery. I have not used the product long enough to determine how long the battery holds its charge. But, on a fresh charge it successfully cut through everything that I have tried it on .. soft wood and hard wood.

I bought an electric chain saw so that I could saw my own wood to heat our house, and also for my wood cook stove. Due to arthritic shoulder, elbow and wrist I have great difficulty getting the gas chain saw started. So I recently bought a Black & Decker battery operated chain saw, it starts with the push of a button, is very light and easy to handle and does a great job cutting even hard wood.

Tried this out on some small dried hardwood (maple, locust & cherry) chunks no larger than 3″ in diameter. Tough going. The blade really has no power. Might work on green woods better. In other words–just for trimming on live wood. OK for use by a landscaper–not for a small farm.

The Earthwise CS30016 16-Inch 12 amp Electric Chain Saw is a powerful tool for your gardening needs.  This chainsaw has excellent power at 4.5 horsepower and strong enough to do any amount of yard work you need.  It is light enough to carry up a tree and strong enough to clear a grove of trees.  As well it is quieter than most chainsaws.  Most people who bought the Earthwise CS30016 said is was a great product at a reasonable price!
The Earthwise CS30016 chainsaw will cut through most small branches without any problem. Â It will also easily cut up firewood for your fireplace or wood stove.
Most owners also liked that you could easily check the oil levels through the oil level window.
There were very few complaints with this chainsaw however a lot of people found that the owner’s manual had very small print and there isn’t a web page for this particular model.
One owner found that the directions in the owner’s manual regarding tightening the chain was incorrect. You will need to loosen the inner wheel and tighten with the outer wheel. Â As well most owners found that replacing the chain was not too difficult.
